Upintheair Theatre Presents Heist's West Coast Premiere

The Princess Show

“a multimedia musical filled with hilariously animated and sparkle-coated metaphors for fighting one's inner demons, and the power of community” – The Coast

A  mesmerizing and powerhouse performance.

Follow the world’s most revered performance artist, Princess Edward, as this bearded, sequined wonder journeys into a world where anime heroes, bass guitarist rock stars and pop epics meld into a music-filled thriller. Join Princess Edward and her family in this musical, lip-synced mash-up of Dungeons & Dragons, Attack on Titan, Legend of Zelda, and Rupaul’s Drag Race, where Princess puts it all on the line to save her beloved.

Originally workshopped with Lethbridge-based Theatre Outré, the titular character, performance artist Princess Edward, is a bearded sequinned wonder who takes the audience into a world where anime heroes, bass guitarist rock stars and pop epics meld into one. Princess Edward is an alter ego of Aaron Collier, former keyboardist for The Jimmy Swift Band and founding member of the electronic duo Scientists of Sound, who now regularly plays under his solo moniker Chandelier.

The show also features Richie Wilcox (director of other Outré hits UNSEX’d and CASTRATI: An Electro Drag Opera). Wilcox says “I am so excited to share the stage with my husband on this stunning visual journey.” Collier is stoked to get the chance to showcase his work in B.C.: “This show is a mash-up of Dungeons & Dragons, Attack on Titan, Zelda and Rupaul’s Drag Race. The setting is fantasy but the problems Princess encounters are very real to all of us. I think it can strike a chord with everyone.” Join Princess Edward and her family in this musical lip-synched thriller where Princess puts it all on the line to save her beloved.
