Upintheair Theatre  Presents a Reading of Chase Heibert's

Bulb Duet

Bulb-duet.jpg

The meet cute. The first date. Getting to know each other. Falling in love. It's a love story, but it's not about the romance; Bulb Duet tells the archetypal story of a relationship through the lens of other-stories-about-love.

Two ethereal clowns bound together by a deep, not-always-evident affection for each other (and for love itself) embody a variety of characters and situations as they grapple with the complexities of loving another person. The vignette portraits of all kinds of love juxtaposed against the clichéd structure of a classic boy-meets-girl story, Bulb Duet explores multiplicities of love in a culture saturated by singular narrative.

Originally created for a workshop facilitated by celebrated playwright Joan Macleod, Bulb Duet has had a workshop production with UVic’s Student Alternative Theatre Company (SATCo). This reading with rEvolver is part of the show’s ongoing evolution.
